reaching balance -> MaxD

reaching balance -> maximum distance

Equipment needed: wall, short tape measure, something to mark the distance reached (f.ex. chalk)

Goal and measurement

The goal is to test reaching arm coordination and balance. The result you record is the distance between the marked centerpoint on the wall and the mark where you reached with your fingertips.

Position

Stand on one leg in front of the wall one foot length away (your foot) and mark on the wall the middle of your standing foot with a vertical line at chest height.

Procedure

Reach as far as possible to the side with the opposite hand to the standing leg. Hold the farthest point you can reach for 3 seconds and mark it with a vertical line. Measure the horizontal distance between the marked centerpoint and the maximum reach line.
